Hemakshi worked at BRAC in Bangladesh to create strategy and evaluation indicators for gender justice and diversity initiatives, which reduce violence and discrimination against women. These programs impact around 20 million people in the country, and engage citizens, civil society organizations and policy makers to change attitudes and create sustainable impact.
Viviann was an intern with the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. Under the education arm of NCLR, she supported research and implementation of education policy in Latino communities.
Norma developed curriculum for a Civic Engagement Boot Camp to create civically minded Latinos and Latinas in Houston, Texas. In the short term, their goal is to increase the Latino youth turnout for the 2016 Presidential Election, and in the long term, their goal is to create a new generation of Latino/a leaders in Houston, Texas.
Marcela worked at IMAGO Global Grassroots, an NGO that helps women grassroots organizations scale-up their impact. In particular, she met with members of two of the biggest organizations in rural India (PRADAN-TRI and SRIJAN) in order to clearly identify their theory of chain, detect particular areas of improvement and design implementable action plans, perform capacity building, and lay the grounds to implement project driven iterative adaptation.
Tanvi created an impact assessment framework through which G(irls)20 will be able better understand their influence on the lives of the girls and women they have invested in. She assessed their strategy for previous summits since 2010 and helped them be better prepared for programs in the future.
Cici worked with Rise Up to evaluate and advance cutting-edge innovations in the sexual and reproductive health and rights movement. Rise Up invests in young leaders in Southeast Asia, Africa, and the southern United States pursuing innovative projects related to sexual and reproductive health and rights. As an intern with the Brigham and Women Hospital’s (BWH) Division of Global Health Equity, Yvette Efevbera, M.Sc., conducted independent research under Division Chief Dr. Paul E. Farmer on understanding problems affecting young women in Guinea following the 2014-15 Ebola crisis.
