Hannah Peaker interned for the newly established UN Women in New York, the first unified driving force in gender equality. Specifically, she worked with the Office of the Focal Point for Women to support their efforts to improve the gender balance within the UN. She was responsible for monitoring progress made by the organizations of the UN system in improving the status of women, including detailed analysis of statistics and implementation of specific measures governing the recruitment, placement, promotion and retention of women and work life balance. She also assisted in the preparation of the annual report on gender equality to the General Assembly, the preparation of position papers for policy-makers and analytical advocacy material.
