Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka’s appointment as the executive director of the United Nations Women and under secretary-general of the UN is coming to an end in three weeks time. Following eight years at the United Nations, South Africa’s first female deputy president says there is still a lot of work to be done in ensuring the full empowerment, emancipation and recognition of women’s rights across the world.
