Gender Equity Insights from Australia

Date:

Thursday, March 12, 2020, 10:30am to 11:30am

Location:

Cason Conference Room, Room 102 Taubman

Are Australian companies moving closer to gender equity in the boardroom? How is it making a difference to company performance? What mechanisms are proving to work in closing the gender pay gap?

Join Australian economists, Associate Professor Rebecca Cassells and Professor Alan Duncan, for an analytical discussion of gender inequality in Australian workplaces and boardrooms. This empirical research makes unique use of company census data collected by Australia's Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

Rebecca and Alan will be visiting from the Bankwest Curtin Economic Centre, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. In this presentation, they will share their latest research insights from the Gender Equity Insights Series, which they are presenting at this year's UN Commission on the Status on Women. More information about the BCEC-WGEA Gender Equity Insights Series can be found here: https://bcec.edu.au/projects/analyses-and-research-based-on-the-wgea-reporting-data-description-of-services/.

This event is hosted by the Women and Public Policy Program (WAPPP) and the Australian New Zealand Student Caucus of the Harvard Kennedy School.
