This course engages with critical issues in gender and emotions at the intersection of Muslim identity and culture. It brings to the fore interdisciplinary scholarship – spanning media studies, anthropology and sociology – that corrects Orientalist imaginings of the ‘Muslim woman’ as silent and passive.
