At the OECD, Jorge conducted research on policies to increase the representation of women in corporate decision-making bodies. The goals were to better understand the dynamics that have led to the current low availability of senior level corporate positions for women and identify policies that have been successful on increasing their opportunities.

The general objective of Jorge's summer internship at the OECD was to better understand the dynamics that have led to the current low availability of senior level corporate positions for women, identify policies that have been successful on increasing their opportunities, and examine the impact they have had. For that purpose, he expanded previous work done at the OECD (the “Closing the Gender Gap” (2012) report) with updated and novel information. In addition, he used the board and senior management gender composition information to study some dynamics, such as if a higher proportion of women on boards translates into more women in senior management positions (or vice versa). Finally, he provided inputs for the development of a methodology for evaluating the impact of different policy approaches (e.g. quotas, targets, disclosure, and voluntary initiatives).
